Hi, guys!! Thanks for letting me have a Mental Health Monday! We were incredibly busy this weekend. Lots of fun stuff, but just too much for one weekend!
Friday evening, we had to drop off The Girl Child to go to Girl Scout camp, then head to a Mouse Races fundraiser for some friends, then we stopped in to see another friend's new band. Saturday, I did manage to squeeze in some Goodwill Hunting, but then we had yet another friend's last band gig, so it was a second late night. Then, of course, Sunday, we had to pick up The Girl Child after our weekly Sunday morning with the mum-in-law, then head to a fantastic Superbowl party. Fun weekend, but I'm getting too old to be burning the candles at both ends!
But, check out this beauty that I managed to snag between events!
That was the only thing I managed to find for me. The Hubster picked up some clothes - nothing special, just some knock-around stuff - and there was just nothing else for me. I found this at that little consignment/thrift store I found again a couple week's ago. It was in great shape and marked at $25, but the shop owner let me talk her down to $10.
Someone obviously used this as a sewing case, which is actually not a bad idea. I just loved it and it goes with the color scheme in my Master Bedroom, so SCORE!
And I did manage to finish (almost) the coffee table I picked up at Red Racks a couple weeks ago.
I want it a bit distressed, so I darkened the wood top and hit it with a few coats of Satin Claret Red spray paint and a poly top coat.
You can't tell from this crappy picture that the top is much darker, because I thought taking the picture at the last minute in the brightest sunlight was an excellent idea. (Also, ignore the carpet dents. I had to push it away from the couch, so I could get a decent shot of it. LOL)
I'm still thinking about stenciling some sort of crate/shipping motif on the tabletop, but being without a coffee table in the living room was driving me crazy.
The other thing was to cover up that nasty shiny 1980s brass knob with a shot of Rustoleum Oil Rubbed bronze paint.
So, now I actually kind of like the table. It may not have been my first choice, but it fits in the room nicely, it's sturdy enough to support my feet (which is important), and I still can paint that stencil on the top of it. And, if I find something I like better, I can always sell it! LOL
So, how was your weekend? Did you watch the Big Game? And what was your favorite Superbowl commercial?

Sounds like a busy weekend! :) Hope you have a great Tuesday! xoxo
Christy, I just love your little trunk. What a nice score! Your coffee table is so sweet!
OMG that is one amazing little case (I am assuming it was previously a womans train case carry on) I love it.. and super jealous! :)

I love that case! It is absolutely gorgeous and I've loved what you've done to the coffee table.
It is right up by alley. As an interior designer, I often use things that others already have. I just revamp them.
Excellent.
Btw, I am doing a little v-day giveaway on the blog. So please stop by.

That table re-do is FABULOUS! Ever since you bought it, I've been eyeing my husband's dresser to re-do. One of these days...LOL
Great finds and the table looks lovely! You should come by and link up with me so you can show this off! :)
wow! the trunk is an amazing find. :=)
Hi Kristy! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog! Wow! You had a busy weekend. I love your bag and table. I'm especially impressed at what you did to turn that coffee table into a real feature in your home. I'm not sure about the stenciling idea. I like it the way it is, but it's your table. :)
I've just like you on FB!
